I Am Ashamed

Today, I am going to share a poem that I wrote.

I Am Ashamed
I am ashamed of myself, because I don’t run.
I am guilty, because I have sinned against God.
I am lost in the dark, because I went to it.
I am in great distress, because I placed a heavy burden on my shoulders.
My God, my God, why have I forsaken thee?
Why am I so far from You, so far from the words of Your joy?
O my God, You answer me by day, but I continue to cry out to You, by night You protect me, but I continue to doubt.*
Yet here I am,
I am brokenhearted, but “He heals the brokenhearted.” (Psalms 147:3a)
I am wounded, but “He binds up our wounds.” (Psalms 147:3b)
I am imperfect, “for all have sinned.” (Romans 3:23)
Praise the God of Israel for His great love!
Sing a song of praise you weary sinners!
Shout for joy you depressed!
Follow His voice you lost sheep.
For He overcame the world.

I hope you like it.

*The second verse is suppose to be based on Psalms 22:1-2.

Your brother in Christ,

  1. Beautiful poem, it's so true!

  2. Love this poem! Great job, Michael! :)

  3. That’s so cool! I didn’t know you wrote poetry :-) I love all the references to Scripture. The poem actually really reminds me of First Love by Mandisa. Good job :-)

    This is Jace btw.

    1. Thank you, Jace! Well, it’s just a hobby God gave. First Love by Mandisa? I never listened to it before, I should. =)
