My Social Media

God sure can give the most interesting of things to write about, right?

You might be wondering, "What is your social media?"

I will tell you that it is better than any other social media in the world, but you only get to talk to one person.

Sounding boring? Stay with me a little longer.

That one person is there for you all the time, whenever you are discouraged, that person will encourage you. When you are hurting, that person is there to comfort you.

Sounding better? Now time for the most confusing part.

You can't contact this person from your phone.

What? Oh wait, first you need to know who this person is!

His name is Jesus. That's right, Jesus Christ our Savior.

But wait, what are we using to contact Jesus?

Okay, I'll stop playing mysterious: my social media is the Bible.

Because God is always there for us and we can go to Him anytime, especially when we are discouraged or hurting. The Bible has so many great chapters and verses that can encourage you and help you through things in your life.

Reading your Bible and talking to God everyday is way better than Facebook and Instagram because God will not discourage you or hurt you when you talk to Him and read the Bible, He will give us godly things to think about, and rest in His presence.
(NOTE-I am not saying that people on Facebook or Instagram won't discourage or hurt you, there are great people on Facebook and Instagram or any type of social media)
Also, reading the Bible and talking to God refreshes us and give us energy, not drain it.
(Facebook can be very draining sometimes, but that is my perspective and I don't want a debate)

So, take time to talk to God and read the Bible, for He will "strengthen you and help you; [He] will uphold you with [His] righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)

Keep on obeying God and reaching others!
God bless your week!

Be Still

Hey there! Sorry I didn't post last week, I had major writer's block. But that doesn't matter now, today I am sharing something God placed in my heart on Sunday.

"He said, 'Be still, and know that I am God.'" (Psalms 46:10a NIV)

Some people love being busy.
Some people love working.
But most people hate being still.

Personally, being still isn't easy, especially when I have too much fun. Even when I manage to be still, I don't use that quiet time to listen to God unless I was feeling hurt enough to reach Him.

God wants our full attention when we are in our quiet time with him, that's why He wants us to be still. Even if your mind wanders, simply turn your focus back on him. I learned that too much work isn't good for your health. It isn't good for your health because you stress yourself by filling your calendar with stuff. Even too much good stuff is bad for your health. What God is saying in Psalms 46:10 is not a request, it's a command. God commands that we be still and know that He is God because when we surround ourselves with busy things, we lose sight of God. Our prayer time turns to asking for prayers because we burden ourselves with too much work.

The reason God wants us to be still is so that we can get to know Him more and take our burdens off our shoulders. That's why going in a quiet place and listening and talking to God there is really good. But when we turn down the quiet time with God and just put more and more work on our shoulders, we will drain ourselves majorly. Enjoying God's presence in a quiet place refreshes our spiritual energy.

Remember Elijah of the Bible? When he went to Horeb, God told him to "go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." (1 Kings 19:11) There came a powerful wind, an earthquake, fire, but God was not in any of them, until after all that, there "came a whisper." (1 Kings 19:12)

What's Elijah got to do with being still in the presence of the LORD? Well, God didn't talk to Elijah in the wind, earthquake, or fire, but a whisper. It's better to have a quiet place because it will be too difficult to listen to God in loud places.

So, when you are getting stressed by too much work, find a quiet place to read the Bible and listen to what God has to say.

God bless your week!
